Carmen Hui is an artisan of light, translating the mesmerizing play-of-color within Australian opals into timeless bespoke creations. Founding Cleopatra’s Promise in 2025, she established a sanctuary for contemporary high jewellery where the organic beauty of the gemstone dictates the design. Her profound understanding of these enigmatic gems was forged in the ateliers of a prestigious Australian opal house. This hands-on mastery is grounded in a rigorous academic foundation—a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Industrial and Product Design from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, complemented by early structural design experience at Mattel. In 2018, she attained Fellowship with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (FGA), cementing her technical expertise through specialized research on the geological genesis of Coober Pedy opals. Transcending traditional jewellery making, Carmen's vision merges gemological science with fine art. This synthesis culminated in 2021 with her Master of Arts from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
